COVID-19 Policy and Safety Guidelines

Friends of Brooklyn Park Summer Youth Program COVID Safety Guidelines

 

This guidance is based on what is currently known about the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the office of Governor Kate Brown as of 8/02/2021. The CDC and the Governor will update their guidance as additional information becomes available and our safety guidelines can and will be changed to reflect these updates.

 

Symptoms of COVID-19

 

There are a wide range of symptoms reported in people with COVID-19 – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness.  Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus.  Below is a list of possible symptoms. 

 

Fever or chills

 

Cough

 

Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

 

Fatigue

 

Muscle or body aches

 

Headache

 

New loss of taste or smell

 

Sore throat

 

Congestion or runny nose

 

Nausea or vomiting

 

Diarrhea

 

Actively Encourage Sick Employee and Summer Youth Program (SYP) Participants to Stay Home

 

“SYP Participants” applies to anyone from the general public (youth or adult) that is present and in Friends of Brooklyn Park’s Summer Youth Program permitted area.

 

Employees who have symptoms should notify the Program Director or a Board Member and stay home. SYP participants who have symptoms should notify the Program Director or Assistant Program Directors.

 

Employees/SYP participants who are sick with COVID-19 should isolate and follow CDC-recommended steps.  

 

Employees/SYP participants who are asymptomatic (have no symptoms) or pre-symptomatic (not yet showing symptoms) but have tested positive for COVID-19 should isolate and follow CDC-recommended steps. Employees should not return to work until the criteria to discontinue home isolation are met, in consultation with healthcare providers. SYP participants should not return to the SYP until the criteria to discontinue home isolation are met, in consultation with healthcare providers.

 

Employees who are well but who have a sick household member with COVID-19 should notify the Program Director and follow CDC-recommended steps. SYP participants who are well but who have a sick household member with COVID-19 should not participate in the SYP and follow CDC-recommended steps.

 

SYP Participant Pledge:

 

Friends of Brooklyn Park is asking that all youth and adult participants sign a COVID-19 safety pledge the 1st time that they participate in the SYP in 2021. This pledge will be posted in the main area of the SYP on or by the shack (utility/restroom building)

 

As a participant in the Friends of Brooklyn Park Summer Youth Program I pledge to follow the following COVID-19 safety guidelines and respectfully remind other participants to follow them.

 

  1. Wear a mask at all times if it is required to participate in the Summer Youth Program except when eating or drinking. Masks for youth and adults will be provided to all SYP participants that need them.

  2. Keep social distancing of 3ft whenever possible.

  3. Regularly wash hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer (several hand sanitizer stations will be available).

  4. Let a staff member know if you don’t feel well.

 

The above safety guidelines are not optional. You must be willing to follow them in order to participate.

 

COVID-19 Monitor

 

An Assistant Program Director shall be designated the COVID-19 monitor and help participants with social distancing, PPE, and hygiene compliance listed below and provide a pledge (see above) for 1st time participants.



 

Social Distancing 

 

All employees and SYP participants shall maintain 3ft social distancing whenever possible.

 

Signs will be posted around the permitted SYP area to remind all employees and SYP participants to keep social distancing.

 

SYP participant who willfully fail to comply with social distancing reminders will be asked to leave the SYP permitted area


 

Masks and PPE

 

All staff and SYP participants may wear a mask and must if required by CDC guidelines and the State of Oregon to work or participate in the Friends of Brooklyn Park Summer Youth Program with the exception of when eating or drinking, or a medical exemption. Anyone who refuses to wear a mask, or refuses a reminder to put their mask on will be asked to leave the SYP permitted area.

 

Friends of Brooklyn Park will have signs posted throughout the SYP permitted area reminding all staff and SYP participants to wear a mask (if required) while participating in the SYP.

 

Masks in both youth and adults sizes will be available for free to all employees and SYP participants. Any other needed/required PPE for employees will also be provided by Friends of Brooklyn Park. SYP participants that require additional PPE will need to provide their own.


 

Hand Washing/Hygiene

 

We encourage all employees and SYP participants to regularly wash their hands with soap and water. Signs will be posted both in and outside of the bathrooms to remind all persons to wash their hands with soapy water for 20 seconds.

 

Friends of Brooklyn Park will have several hand sanitizer stations throughout the SYP permitted area and will have signs posted to remind all persons to utilize them when needed.
