IMPORTANT PARK PROGRAM COVID-19 INFO & CLOSURE!!
We were informed today that 2 participants that attended the Brooklyn Park Program on Thursday, July 15th, tested positive for COVID-19. The 2 participants did not participate in the program on any other day the week July 11-16. We advise all participants that attended the program on July 15th to get tested.
The park program will be closed until all staff have received a negative test result and/or a COVID negative substitute staff member is in place for a positive staff member. All of our staff have been fully vaccinated. We will be following CDC and Multnomah County protocol for any positive staff. We are doing this out of an abundance of caution.
We will be reinstating mask requirements for all staff, and youth/adult participants for 2 weeks after our safe opening date.
There is a lot we don't know about this situation. We don't know if these participants got the virus from someplace else or from someone at the park. We don't know if they got the virus a day before, day of, or day after the park program. We don't know if their viral load was high enough to contagious while at the park. What we do know is that there is a window from transmission to a positive test and a window for being contagious. This plan will mitigate further spread with the known windows of the how virus replicates and transmits.
Again for the safety of our children, community, and park program staff please get tested if you attended the park program on Thursday, July 15th.
If you have any questions please email us at info@friendsofbrooklynpark.org or call (971) 808-2438.
We will announce the park program reopening date on our website; www.friendsofbrooklynpark.org and on all of our social media and neighborhood platforms
Please stay safe and healthy,
Friends of Brooklyn Park Board and Park Program Staff
